Fishing

So, I never did much fishing growing up. I've been looking for another hobby (I get burned out on photography and birding from time to time). Anyway, Jon has been trying to get me fly-fishing for quite a while now. I finally relented. Last Saturday Jon, Kristi, and I went to Warm River and managed to catch quite a few (I caught ca. 15 fish) small brook trout. We repeated the process yesterday and did just about the same. We were mostly catching 5-7 inch Brook Trout, but we managed to catch a couple of 10" fish and 3 Rainbow Trout. It was really enjoyable and I will probably have to buy some gear and take it up. Here are some photographs.

Oh yeah, Jon took all of the photographs. He gets t.o'd when I don't give him a photo credit.

You know, it's alright to use the word 'about' rather than 'ca.'.

Nice shot of the fish. Makes me hungry.

I went out to the lake this weekend, and scraped my ankle. I caught some brine shrimp and almost got struck by lightning.

Let me know when you get some fish you can eat. Is there only catch and release? I thought that there was a kind of fishing where you actually catch and keep the fish?

I know it's contrary to the idea of doing it for sport, but occasionally it's nice to eat a fresh fish.

My brother kept wanting to teach me fly fishing but I had no interest. Now he wants to teach Carson...I say good luck. I'm glad you found it enjoyable.

Mike,
You can keep ca. 25 brook trout in Idaho. Also, you can keep ca. all of the Rainbow Trout you catch on the South Fork. I don't like to eat fish that much, so I would only keep ca. 2 fish per year. I think Jon and I had ca. 2 fish that would have been big enough to eat.

25 per person per day. So Darren and I could have come home with 50 fish. Last week with Kristi there we could have come home with 75. Even the small fish I think that would be a meal.

Yea, 75 fish could make up a meal...but who wants to clean that many LITTLE fish?

Brad Pitt??? Now that's a bit of a stretch don't you think?
