Potato Cellar Winter

I've mentioned my fascination with potato cellars in a previous post. I'm mostly interested in the older cinder block, wood, dirt, and straw cellars, but the newer ones also have a certain appeal. Here's one I photographed yesterday.

As soon as I read the word "cellar" I instantly imagine Grandpa Clark yelling "You kids get off that cellar or you'll get slivers in your butt!"

Yes I was "born" when Grandpa was alive. He died when I was 6. I have two memories of him and one of those memories is of the cellar. The other memory is of him watching me as I ate a chip off the table before we sat down to dinner. Surprisingly, he wasn't mad. He took a chip too!
